The Factory HobbyWing ESC only supports up to 4S.

So there must be a protection mode for the motor so I need to scale it down to the 4s you are saying ? Or did I ruin the motor and or the esc

Motor does not have any protection program, only the ESC does. The ESC only supports up to 4S so you are risking burning it up by using 6S. Even though the HobbyWIng ESC has heat and voltage protection but the instant burst of 6S can still kill it sometimes.

The stock ESC/motor is setup to run 2x 2S lipo so you will have to us this configuration. If you just use 1x 4S battery, motor wont turn either.
